Standard Setting

10 & 17 May 2024 (Fridays)

This workshop is designed to provide comprehensive introduction to standard setting for written tests of knowledge. We will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of test-centred standard setting using the Angoff, Ebel and Cohen methods, applied to Single Best Answer (SBA) test items. The underlying principles of the methods and the differences between them will be discussed, and practical aspects of standard setting will also be explored.

Aim: This workshop is designed for health professions educators who want a comprehensive introduction to standard setting for written tests of knowledge.

Objectives: participants will

  • become familiar with the evidence base for the different methods currently in use

  • be able to understand the steps in the various methods

  • have gained experience in applying them to written tests

This short course will be delivered as 2 live webinar, lasting 2hrs each.

Tutors:

The expert faculty involved in these workshops will be Katharine Boursicot, and Rikki Goddard-Fuller, who have over 25 years of experience in standard setting, for undergraduate and postgraduate examinations, across a range of healthcare professions, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary sciences, optometry, physiotherapy and pharmacy.

Fees: SGD 600 per participant
